Scribbles Designs Final Fling

My three months as a guest designer at Scribbles Designs has come to an end. The time has just flown past. For my last card I found a lovely fox image. My youngest daughter loves foxes so I am sure I will be able to find a good home for it!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:
Scribbles Designs – Foxy Love
orange floral designer paper (origin unknown)
brown card
X-Press It card
Copic pens
acrylic greeting stamp
black archival ink
white A5 card blank

Foxy is printed on X-Press It card and coloured with Copics, trimmed and matted on some floral paper then layered on brown card and attached to the card front.

The greeting is stamped onto a snippet of white card, trimmed and layered on a strip of the floral paper left over from matting the fox image then attached to the card.

I love this image, my favourite so far! However there are plenty more images to discover at Scribbles Designs so I expect there will be others popping up here now and then.

I hope that I have inspired you in some way. Please do take a look at the Scribbles Designs Blog for more inspiration and the shop to view the images available. Don’t forget, they also have a monthly challenge with prizes, details are on the blog.

Thank you for popping in. Take care.

PoP Midway Post for Challenge #47

This month is just flying past, but then they always do these days. Maybe it is an age thing or maybe it’s just that life is lived so frenetically these days that we do not take time to just slowdown, unwind and relax. I think that is why I love colouring so much, it forces you to focus down on something without rushing; very therapeutic.

The optional theme at Path of Positivity for this month is new beginnings. With Easter just on the horizen my thoughts turned to the greatest opportunity of new beginnings of all – the death and resurection of Jesus. Easter seems to be the poor relation of the major Christian festivals, possibly because it is not as joyful and sparkly as Christmas and lets face it, apart from Easter Eggs, has not really been adopted as a secular holiday. And yet the message of Easter is far more important to the world than Christmas and is more joyful than Christmas. True Good Friday is not a bundle of laughs but have you ever stopped to wonder why the ‘good’ in Good Friday? It is good because the death of Jesus allowed us to be in a relationship with God. On that cross Jesus took on all sin of the world, past, present and future and he paid the ransom for them, in effect he took our place our punishment for our wrong doings. He gave everyone the chance to take up God’s offer of love and enter a relationship with Him. All we have to do is to realise in our hearts that we do not deserve to stand before God because of our sin, to repent and to accept the forgiveness freely offered. It is our choice.

Good Friday is, of course, followed by the greatest celebration of all, Easter Day. It is Easter Day that validates Good Friday in a sense. If Jesus had not raised from the dead then history would have dismissed him as just another good man who paid the price for being so naive, rather than the greatest man who ever lived and the only person to be fully man and fully God. A true celebration of Easter cannot happen without going through Good Friday first, both are part of each other.

So however you spend your Easter my prayer for you is that you will take time out just to slow down and relax and consider how much God loves you in sending his only Son to die for you. God bless you.

If you have stuck with me so far, thank you very much. Before I get completely carried away and forget that I am writing a blog not a sermon I had better show you my card for today. I have used two images from Kitten Scraps and combined the ideas of the first sin of Adam and Eve and the restoration through the cross of Jesus.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:
Kitten Scraps – Adam and Eve Digi Stamp
Kitten Scraps – Easter Bunnies Digi Stamp
X-Press It card
red and purple card
outline cross sticker
Copic pens
A5 card blank

Adam and Eve, the Bible verse and the egg are all printed as one image on X-Press It card and coloured in with Copic pens.

The coloured image is trimmed then matted and layered onto red and purple card before being attached to the front of the card blank.

Finally the peel-off cross sticker is put in the centre of the egg.

I hope that you will join in the fun at Path of Positivity. Remember the challenge is now Anything Goes with an optional theme. Here are all the details about how to enter and the available prizes.

There is so much you can do with the theme Birth of New Beginnings so why not have a go yourself. We have two great sponsors this month, Limited Runs and Kitten Scraps and they are offering prizes. All the information you need on how to enter and how to qualify for the different prizes on offer are below.

In order to have a chance to win the prize for the Most Inspirational Creation, be sure to explore this idea of the Birth of New Beginnings. Do you know of anyone about to bring a baby into their world? This would be the perfect time to create a congratulations card. Maybe you know someone who is thinking about adopting a new pet. Perhaps you or someone you know is trying to get a business or even just a concept off the ground. These are all good examples, of ‘birth’ and all great occasions to celebrate. Whatever direction you take the birth of new beginnings in, we’d love to part of that journey.

If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize for Most Inspirational. We also ask that you please leave a comment letting us know how your creation relates to the concept of birth if it isn’t readily clear within the design itself or clearly written somewhere else in your post. While you may easily see how the concept of birth relates to your creation, it may not be as apparent to me or the DT members. That is why we ask that you clarify it somewhere, whether here or in your blogpost. You can simply write a sentence at the bottom of your post next to the link up for this challenge, if it would be easier. We just need to know how your project ties into the theme. Letting us know, clears up any ambiguity that may exist.

Remember, in order to be considered eligible for this month’s prizes, ALL creations must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature.

Prizes on offer this month:

  • A $20.00 gift certificate from Kitten Scraps, one of our guest sponsors this month, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch.
  • A $10.00 gift certificate from Limited Runs, one of our guest sponsors this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all entrants.

Thank you for dropping in. Take care.

Pansy Sprite

Aurora Wings were offering a lovey free sprite digi stamp this month and as their challenge theme is Sprites only I thought I would give it a try.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:
Aurora Wings – Pansy Sprite (not yet in store)
X-Press It card
watercolour paper
Color Burst powders
blue and red card
acrylic greetings stamp
black archival ink pad
Copic pens

Pansy Sprite coloured with Copics then fussy cut. Mat made from a piece of watercolour paper ‘painted’ with Color Burst. This came from my stash box and was made quite a while ago. It was pure coincidence that the colours went.

The image is matted on the Color Burst painted paper then layered onto red and blue card before atttaching to the front of an A5 card blank.

The greeting is stamped at the bottom of the card in black.

My sprite has been made up of two different colour ways, well it’s different!

When printing up my images I like to use as much of the space on the card as I can so I often print out smome smaller versions for practicing with. If these go well then they can be made up into ATC’s. I managed a couple of sprites that were good enough to use.

Love To Craft Challenge Midway Post

The Love to Craft Challenge has reached the midway point which means it is time for a reminder and some inspiration. All the details on where to find us and how to enter will be at the bottom of this post.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:
Lilies Digi Stamp from Kit and Clowder Elements of Nature Class – (I am trying to find out the source so I can update this information for you)
acrylic greeting stamp
X-Press It card
pink, pale green and dark green card
square white card blank
pink ribbon

The lilies are printed onto X-Press It card, coloured in with Copics, trimmed then matted and layered on the colour before being attached to the card front.

I attached the image slightly off-centre and then balanced it out by adding the pink bow along the fold edge.

The greeting is stamped at the bottom of the card with black ink.

The eagle-eyed among you may notice that this card is slightly different from the picture on the challenge blog, that is because having made up my first attempt I discovered I did not have a big enough envelope to put it in! I had to trim down the card in order for it to fit which is why the image ended up not quite centred and the ribbon was added. I actually think this version is an improvement which just shows that mistakes can improve things sometimes!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES  (The original card)

Here, as promised, are the details for the Love To Craft Challenge:

HOW TO PLAY
Our challenges are monthly – they go live at 6:00 AM EST on the first day of every month and run until 6:00 PM on the last day of the month – and are always Anything Goes!
Winners and Top Picks are chosen by our Design Team and announced on the 5th of the month following the close of each challenge. We do not solicit sponsorship so there are no prizes. We play for *FUN* and for ‘Winner’ and ‘Top Pick’ badges. There may occasionally be a goody bag of craft supplies thrown in by the blog owner or some blog candy scattered for a lucky winner!
You may enter up to five (different) projects in our challenges and you may combine our challenges with as many others as you wish.
Link just your project – not your entire blog – to our challenge via the InLinkz tool at the end of the challenge post. List our challenge in your blog post and link back to us.
We allow back-linking of projects that are no more than six months old. Absolutely no digitally-created projects – we want to see tangible handmade creations.

I do hope you will pop over to the Love to Craft Challenge Blog and see the wonderful samples my team mates have come up with this time. Hopefully we will have inspired you to have a go yourself.

Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

The sentiment is printed out, trimmed, edged in black and stuck under the background papers.

Nearly Missed It!

I’ve been wanting to enter the challenge at Ike’s World for a while now but somehow never managed to get arround to it. This time I was determined, especially as I was using one of Ike’s wonderful images on the birthday card for my husband. I had it all printed out and coloured in ages ago but forgot to make the actual card. Today I looked at my ‘to do’ list and realised the omission. In a panic I checked out the challenge dates and realised that I still had a day left, so there has been a flurry of activity in the Craft Room while Tim watches the rugby!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

(The card does not really have a bend in it, for some reason the camera thinks it has! Also it does not have all the ‘speckles’ in the colouring.)

Materials used:
Ike’s Art – Sherlock
X-Press It card
printer card
A5 card blank
brown card
Copic pens

Sherlock has been printed out on X-Press It card , coloured with Copics, trimmed and matted onto dark brown card.

The sentiment is printed onto computer card and used to cover the front of the card blank. A brown Copic matching the brown of the image mat has been run around the edges of the card.

Finally the topper has been stuck onto the card front.

Colouring Sherlock was quite a challenge as his face is only about 1cm in length! However I am glad I did colour him as he is growing on me and makes a change from the steam trains I usually do for Tim’s birthday. (What is it about clergymen and steam trains?!)

Thanks for popping in. Take care.

Easter Treats With Scribbles Designs

Time for another sample using Scribbles Designs images. This time I have chosen to go with a make for Easter, which is fast approaching.

Back of Bag

Materials used:
Scribbles Designs – Easter Eggs #2
Decossés Dynamite Doodles – Spotty Paper (sorry I cannot find it on the blog site but I am sure if you message Lisa she will be able to help you)
printer paper
X-Press It card
Copic pens
We R Memory Keepers gift bag punch board

I printed out the digispotty paper onto printer paper and made it into a little gift bag using the punch board.
SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES
I printed out the Easter Eggs digi stamp and cropped out the parts I did not want leaving just the
eggs which I coloured with Copics, cut out and stuck to the bag.

The bag is big enough to put in some mini eggs or one small egg, or even made with different papers to suit other occassions. My bag is the smallest one width wise that you can make. The height is entirely up to you.

I hope that I have inspired you in some way. Please do take a look at the Scribbles Designs Blog for more inspiration and the shop to view the images available.

Thank you for dropping in. Take care.

Ballooning Giraffe

It has been a while since I last entered the Give A Crafter A Cookie Challenge and yet it is one of my favourites so I was determined to rectify the situation. This time around the inspiration cookie has balloons on it and it just so happened that Bugaboo have a giraffe with balloons digi stamp which fits the bill and also will give me an entry into the Bugaboo Challenge as well.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:
Bugaboo Stamps – Balloon Giraffe
giraffe animal print digi paper (free from internet)
acrylic greeting stamp
black archival ink pad
brown and yellow card
DL card blank
X-Press It card
Copic pens

The giraffe image is printed on X-Press It card  with a second print of just the balloons and coloured with Copic pens. The main image has been trimmed to size and a brown pen taken around the edges. The three top balloon from the second image have been fussy cut and then attached ontop of the original image using gel glue.

The front of the card blank has been covered with the giraffe print paper and a brown pen run around the edges. Two strips of the yellow and brown card have been attached to the top and bottom of the image before being attached to the card.

The greeting has been stamped onto the front of the card using black ink.

PoP March Challenge

Time for a new challenge at Path of Positivity. Our challenges are now always ‘Anything Goes’ with an optional twist. This month the twist is ‘Birth of New Beginnings’.

The Season of Spring always brings new birth after the cold winter months, or in the case of the UK this year the wet and windy winter months! I love seeing the first signs of Spring, the catkins and pussy willow, the snowdrops, crocus’ and daffodils and my favourite the frog spawn in the pond.

We moved house last September so this is the first Spring in our new home. While we have planted a few bulbs ourselves it has been fun seeing what else is appearing in the garden. We pulled out quite a few overgrown shrubs and a host of pale blue crocus’s have appeared in the space that was once underneath the dense wood of the shrub. It may even be the first time in a number of years that they have been visible.

The new pond has a small clump of frogspawn in it donated by a friend. I am hoping that eventually the local frogs will discover it, although it still needs a bit of work doing to make it more accessible for adult frogs. Hopefully plans for that will be completed before the baby frogs are ready to leave the pond.

In the same way that frogspawn holds the promise of  the birth of new beginnings so does each caterpillar, whether they be of moth or butterfly. Each caterpillar holds the potential to become a beautiful moth or butterfly. I have chosen to make my card to reflect that idea.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:
Limited Runs – Butterfly #4
Limited Runs – Caterpillar Set
X-Press It card
purple and yellow card
white A5 card blank
Copic pens

The images and the verse are arranged on the page before printing onto X-Press It card. The verse is one I wrote myself.

The images are coloured with Copics then the page is trimmed and matted and layered onto purple and yellow card. The whole topper is then attached to the front of the card blank.

There is so much you can do with the theme Birth of New Beginnings so why not have a go yourself. We have two great sponsors this month, Limited Runs and Kitten Scraps and they are offering prizes. All the information you need on how to enter and how to qualify for the different prizes on offer are below.
