Ballet Day with Bugaboo

Today is, apparently, ballet day and so I have made a ballet themed card for Humour Me Wednesday at Bugaboo.

DSC_0497(watermarked).JPG
Materials used:
Bugaboo Digi Stamps – Chibi Ballerina
dark pink and light pink card
designer card
X-Press It card
Copic pens
flat-backed pearl gems in white
A5 card blank

The little ballerina and her sentiment are printed on X-Press It card and coloured with Copic pens. The three pearl gems are also coloured with a pink Copic.

The image and sentiment are trimmed and the image matted and layered on dark and light pink card. The sentiment is edged with a black pen.

The front of the card blank is lined with designer card from stash and the image and sentiment added.

Finally the three coloured pearls are glued in place.

Both my girls did ballet as children and my eldest has kept up her love of dance with tap, jazz and irish, although the ballet has fallen by the way. My youngest dances for excercise at home and does a lot of walking. Both are very active, unlike their mother! I do think the mother of this little cutie had it easy though, I remember having to get long fine blond hair to stay in a bun!

Thanks for stopping a while. Take care.

Shades of Red at Path of Positivity

Time for a new challenge at Path of Positivity and continuing with our colour themes this month we are focusing on Red.

DSC_0487(watermarked).JPG

Materials used:
Ike’s Art – Xmas Poinsettia
X-Press It card
Copic pens
blue watercolour paint

The images and words are arranged on the card then printed on E-Press It card and coloured with Copics. I have used blue watercolour paint around the Poinsettia images and left the sentiment in clear space between them.

Red is a colour that can conjuor up all sorts of emotions and associations, the colour of passion and desire but also the colour of anger and heat. I tend to think of Christmas and also my eldest daughter’s wedding! Christmas is an easy association to work out, there are a lot of reds around, red santas, red decorations, red candles and so on. The association with my daughters wedding might need a little explanation so here is a photo that explains it all!

It’s scary to think that this was almost 7 years ago! Both my associations with the colour red are really happy occassions and I am grateful for that.

I hope you will come along and join us on our Path of Positivity this month. Remember our challenge is Anything Goes with the option of the theme. If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize for Most Inspirational. We’d also love to find out how this month’s colour makes you feel, if you’d like to share that with us. What kinds of feelings does the colour RED evoke in you? You can write a sentence or two in the body of your post, write a sentence at the bottom of your post next to the link up for this challenge, or simply leave a comment on the Path of Positivity Challenge Blog post.

Remember, in order to be considered eligible for this month’s prizes, ALL creations must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature. You don’t need to follow the optional theme if you simply want to have a chance at the Random Draw prize of a $15 gift certificate from Ike’s Art, one of our guest sponsors this month. You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win an additional sponsored prize of Three (3) images from Pattie’s Creations, the second of our guest sponsors this month, for the project chosen as Most Inspiring.

I am sure you have plenty of ideas on how to approach Shades of Red but should you need anymore inspiration visit the Path of Positivity Challenge Blog and see the wonderful creations from the rest of the Design Team. You will also find all the details of how to enter. I look forward to seeing you there.

Thanks for stopping for a while. Take care.

Scribbles Designs turns 5 and the party goes on.

It’s the midway point of the Scribbles Designs birthday month. Although the week of new release posts has finished you still have time to enter the challenges. For all the links and details head over to the Scribbles Designs Blog.

Today I have another card using an image from the Penguin Party Boys set. This time I am featuring Brrad Pirate Hat.

Materials used:
Scribbles Designs – Brrad Pirate Hat
Scribbles Designs – Penguin Party Boys

Distress Ink
previously distressed watercolour card from stash
sepia ink pad
gold mirri card
white card
X-Press It card
treasure map, treasure chest and island acrylic stamps from stash
Copic pens
white paint pen

All the images are coloured with Copic pens. The large central image is fussy cut then attached to a mat made from distressed card stamped with the map and trimmed to size.

The card base is cut from a sheet of A4 white card and distressed with Distress Inks to match the map. The sentiment is trimmed to size.  All elements are attached to the card base.

February Challenge at Love To Craft

 Materials used:
Love To Knit – Jigsaw Cushion Pattern by Kim Dickinson
DK wool in various colours
This was a fun project to make, if a bit fiddly. I used yarn bobbins, a different one for each colour, which made the colour changes easier. Finding buttons was not so easy. I liked the idea of haveing buttons to match the colours in the cushion but could not find a complete set of the same type and size. In the end I opted for ‘rainbow’ ones which worked really well.

I hope you will find time this month to share all your crafty projects with us, whatever they may be. Remember we are an anything goes, any project and any craft.

Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

Elephants never forget . . .

. . .but they might be late sometimes!

This elephant image is the one for the Dragons Lair Designs progressive challenge on Facebook which ends tomorrow! The frame is floral but I have chosen colours inspired by African patterns and it looks quite different.

DSC_0483(watermarked).JPG

Materials used:
Dragons Lair Designs – (Framed Elephant not yet in store)
Whimsey Stamps – Animal Print Digital Papers (think they were a freebie because I cannot find them in the store)
X-Press It card
Copic pens
black peel off sentiment
12.5cm square card blank

The card front is covered with a paper from the Whimsey set then edged with a black pen. The elephant image is coloured with Copics then cut out and attached to the card base. Finally the sentiment is added.

I was really pleased withe the way a different colour combination turned the frame into African art. When my eldest daughter was doing her Art GCSE at school she made a fantastic piece of batik influenced by African patterns. I remember it was in reds, yellows, oranges, browns and black made up of little triangles and lines and took her ages. I just wish I had a photo to share with you, it really was amazing.

Thank you for dropping in. Take care.

Growing the Love at Limited Runs

The image for this month’s progressive challenge at the Limited Runs Facebook Page can be used for so many occassions but with Valentine’s Day not far off I expect it will be put to good use a lot! I have opted for an anniversary card this time.

DSC_0451(watermarked).JPG

Materials used:
Limited Runs – Sweetheart Flowerpot
Imagine That Digistamp – Satin Fabrics Digi Papers
textured cream card
red card
X-Press It card
Copic Pens
heart punch
silver peel off greeting
A5 card blank
adhesive backed heart gem

The main image is printed on X-Press It card, coloured with Copic pens and fussy cut. The heart rosette embellishment is made from red hearts punched from red paper and arranged around the circle sentiment that came with the flowerpot stamp. The ‘ribbon’ is a thin sliver of pink paper.

The mat for the image is a piece of textures paper from my snippits box as is the layer paper which was printed out from the Silk Fabrics set.

Thank you for dropping by. Take care.

Photo Inspiration at Bugaboo

This week the challenge at Catch the Bug is a photo inspiration. Here in the UK we certainly need our umberellas at the moment for snow in the North and rain in the South West. Needless to say I am in the South West with not even a hint of snow, just rain, rain, rain and more rain!

DSC_0467(watermarked)
Materials used:
Bugaboo Digi Stamps – April Word
X-Press It card
Copic pens
silver pen
pearlescent paper
flower and leave die
flat-backed gem

The wording on the right has been added on the computer before printing out with the image in place.

The little flower is made using Britannia dies and a pearl added in the  middle.

The silver border is added with a silver pen.

Time to confess, the flower is covering a gold splodge that got accidentally picked up on the card which is why it is in a strange place!

I hope you will be able to join in the fun at Catch the Bug this week. Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

Panda Love at Gerda Steiner

This is the first time I have had a go at the progressive challenge at Gerda Steiner Designs but I could not resist this cute panda.

DSC_0468(watermarked).JPG

Materials used:
Gerda Steiner Designs – Panda In Love  (free if you played in December’s challenge)
floral designer paper from stash
silver mirri card
pink card
X-Press It card
Copic pens
sentiment die
heart die
15cm square white card blank

The card and designer paper are layered up as in the photo. The image is coloured in then die cut with a heart die. The sentiment is die cut from a scrap of silver card.

I made the background by colouring it pink then using a cotton bud dipped in colourless blender ink to make the circles.

Thank you for dropping by. Take care.

Acting like a monkey

A couple of days ago I shared the card I made for my son-in-law, this time it’s my daughter’s card I have to show you. Her birthday is the day after her husbands. She has always been the more active of my two girls, into climbing trees, and she also likes monkeys and hats so this image covers a lot of bases!

DSC_0450(watermarked).JPG

Materials used:
The Paper Shelter – Monkeys!
Sheena Douglas A Taste of India A4 Embossing Folder – Jungle Leaves
green Cor’dinations Card
X-Press It card
Copic pens
A5 card blank
black peel-off greeting sticker

The green card has been embossed using the folder and then lightly sanded to add some texture to the leaves.

The image is coloured with Copic pens then trimmed to size and edged with a black pen.

Thank you for dropping in. Take care.
