Messing about on the river

This month’s image for the Progressive Challenge on the Art by Barb Facebook page makes a great summer birthday card for a young lad. What can be more fun than taking a good friend for a canoe trip on a lovely sunny day. I wish I could join them!

Materials used:
Art by Barb – Ahoy There (the boy image i free from the Art by Barb Facebook page if you are new to the challenge or took place in the previous challenge)
DDDoodles – Sizzling Summer Textured Paper
rope and greeting acrylic stamps
black archival ink pad
X-Press It card
blue card
white A5 card blank
Copic pens
Polychromo pencils
square die set

Print the image at required size on X-Press It card and colour with Copics. Use a square die set to cut the image and a slightly larger mat (cut from a piece of the water paper from the Sizzling Summer set).

Attach the image to the mat then glue the mat onto blue card and trim away the excess leaving a narrow border around the edges.

Use the rope and greeting stamp with black archival ink to make the greeting at the bottom of the card and colour with Polychromo pencils.

Attach the topper to the front of the card.

Thank you for dropping in. Take care.

About Pippa

I started crafting at an early age though not always successfully, my pillowcase tennis dress has, thankfully, disappeared into history. Funnily sewing is not something I enjoy! My favourite crafty activity has to be card making, especially stamping which I have been doing for over 20 years and am still a beginner, there is always something new to learn. I also enjoy knitting and crochet. I am not an artist, cannot even draw a straight line with a ruler, but I love colouring in, which is why stamping appeals so much. I am married, have recently retired from being a part time HLTA at a local village primary school, have two grown up daughters, both married and a mad cat called Finnegan. That, in a nutshell, is me.

  1. Aww! This is a real eye catcher. Fabulous card Pippa. Super colouring. What a great idea to frame the sentiment with the rope.

Pippa this is a wonderful young masculine card. I do love this image it’s bright and cheery and that rope frame for the sentiment is totally perfect. Great card and thanks so much for sharing it with us over at Penny’s Paper Crafty Challenge and good luck.
